Reynolds Institute on Aging, would also be glad to help your group schedule a speaker on other topics related to healthy aging. About the Speakers: Cornelia Beck, PhD, RN, is Professor and Vice Chair, Donald W. Reynolds Department of Geriatrics and Professor, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, UAMS. Dr. Beck directs the UAMS Memory Research Center. She also conducts research on risk factors of aggression, wandering, and problematic vocalizations in nursing home residents with dementia. Dr. Beck lectures extensively throughout the world. Delbra Caradine, MD, is Assistant Professor, Donald W. Reynolds Department of Geriatrics, and directs the House Calls Program at UAMS. The goal of the House Calls Program is to provide quality cost-effective services to homebound persons who are unable to visit the doctor’s office due to limited mobility, cognitive impairment and/or transportation constraints. Sue Griffin, PhD, is Professor and Vice Chair, Donald W. Reynolds Department of Geriatrics, UAMS. She co-directs the federally funded UAMS Memory Research Center. Her pioneering work investigating the role of immune generating cytokines in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease is one of the most compelling insights in Alzheimer’s research of the last decade- one that has inspired much research and that has immediate therapeutic implications. Pham H. Liem, MD, is Associate Professor and Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs, Donald W. Reynolds Department of Geriatrics, and a physician with the Reynolds Senior Health Center at UAMS. Dr. Liem, who specializes in Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, was twice chosen by his peers to be listed under Geriatrics in the publication Best Doctors in America. Robert Mrak, MD, PhD, is Professor of Pathology and Chief, Neuropathology Section, UAMS. Dr. Mrak leads the Memory Research Center Neuropathology Core. He is often called on to speak to the public about autopsy and the role autopsy plays in confirming a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease and as a tool in Alzheimer’s disease research. Sandy Sanders, LCSW, is a Geriatric Social Worker with the Donald W. Reynolds Senior Health Center and the Memory Research Center at UAMS. Ms. Sanders provides information and support to patients and caregivers on an individual basis. She also facilitates education and support groups in the community and at UAMS. Elaine Souder, PhD, RN, is Professor in the College of Nursing at UAMS. Dr. Souder leads the Memory Research Center Education Core. She presents frequently on topics of aging, dementia, and Alzheimer's disease. Her research interests include dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, mental and cognitive status, and activities of daily living. Johannah Uriri, PhD, MNSC RNP, is Clinical Assistant Professor in the UAMS College of Nursing. Dr. Uriri’s teaching specialty is gerontological nursing and her research interests focus on care giving of older adults diagnosed with dementia.
